Facebook Profiles & Professional Mode
Your main profile is the profile you create when you sign up for a Facebook account. This profile represents you on Facebook and is where you can share information about yourself with your friends and family. When you turn on professional mode, you can build a public presence as a creator and maintain your personal friends and family experience. Professional mode can help you build a public following and grow a global community.
In professional mode, you have access to a bundle of professional tools, enhanced safety features and monetization products (if you’re eligible) that can help you build your professional presence from your profile. Previously, these tools and features were available only on Pages, which meant creators had to manage their public Page separate from their profile.
When you turn on professional mode for your profile, you have access to the following updates, tools and safety features:
Profile updates
- Followers: By default, the Who can follow me setting is set to Public. This lets anyone on Facebook follow you and see your public content in their Feed. There's no limit to how many followers you can have. If you want to, you can still choose to share some updates to friends only.
- Profile category: The Intro section tells people more about you, and now it includes a profile category. When you turn on professional mode, your profile is set to the category Digital creator by default.
- If you want to change your profile category: Go to Edit profile > Details, tap Edit and choose your Category.
